WIth the lack of prosecuting crimes in Eureka Montana, it has led me back to posting on this site and to letting you know what is going on at the Wilderness Club, LLC.

Yes the Wilderness Club Montana is allowing locals to work for them, and jobs are needed, however the Wilderness Club is still running amok, they bully tree companies over trees that in my opinion they had a hand in their demise but blame an sue the hard working nursery.

And of course you remember that the Lincoln County Court system gave no value to the lives that the wilderness club ruined with stealing trees, violating subdivision regulations and covenants, ruining the quality of life of the neighborhood they moved into and basically doing whatever they want with total disregard for the law and they even violated a court order when told to stop building, they knew they would get to keep their building, and they knew that if they just forced a commercial building in on the locals though it violated covenants and ruined their lives, they knew that they would win.

Local Politics seems to like the Wilderness Club or the "name" their Realtor brought to the table. The December headlines were the DEQ violation below..

http://www.deq.state.mt.us/ber/2008Agendas/120508/BER120508Agenda.pdf

What the Wilderness Club did to the Quality of Life
of the Residents of Koocanusa Estates should never be forgotten.

The torture that those folks went through was horrible.

On top of Trees Stolen, Dogs Killed, their house broke into, constant noise,
real estate value ruined, constantly harrasse, they were also given the,
what I now know as the Montana Justice System motto, the Victim speaks
out and they are treated as the criminal and this goes on for years.

I have seen this over and over.

Crystal L. What do You Folks think of this?

This Does Not Seem Right to Me. You ALL should LEAVE Lincoln County, BIG corporation, even, FOREIGN owned corporations can COME into YOUR neighborhood and Do what they want. NO BIG DEAL.Will this Decision create a Public OutCRY or will the Residence of Lincoln County, as usual, hide safely in their own homes and NOT stick up for their neighbors. THIS is WRONG.. you WILL be wronged next. It does not matter what your covenants are in your neighborhood, a Wilderness Club Type can come in and do what they want. They VIOLATED a court order to STOP building and NOTHING made them STOP, they are Seriously Above the Law. But YOU are NOT.

Trial By Jury, WHY ? if the decision is in no way final than why bother. What Good is a Trial if a Judge can Say, oh Nevermind. The Wilderness Club Was TOLD to STOP working on the building, nothing happened to them. They kept building on it, they got to keep their building. A Jury awarded them Punitive damages but apparantley their life is only worth $25,000 . Why have a jury if a Judge can say, well no that is excessive.

Shocked is an UNDERSTATEMENT.

Whats YOUR Life Worth ?Will This Go to the Montana Supreme Court ?Eureka attorney Amy Guth, representing the McKays, said the couple has filed a motion asking Prezeau to reconsider his decision."The Montana Supreme Court has been pretty stern in reductions of punitive damage awards when they are given by a jury," she said. "(But) that doesn't mean in this case they won't say the judge was right and the jury was wrong."Guth said the McKays also have filed a motion with the high court to stop Wilderness Development from further impacting their property.Whitefish attorney Sean Frampton, representing the developer, said he believes Prezeau made the right decision in lowering the punitive damages.

He had argued that state law prohibits jurors from awarding punitive damages based on covenant claims, and the only "tort," or civil wrong, the jury thought the developer had committed was cutting down trees. The McKays lost more than TREES, they were in CONSTANT stress, loud noise, dust, harassment, their horses had bright lights on them all the time, generators ran 24 hours, traffic was horrific, they LOST everything they worked for and Frampton says that the only “tort” was cutting down trees. BULL….

In May 2007, Wilderness Development cleared out trees on the McKays' property and cut a road across their land leading to a maintenance facility for the club.Guth asked that the work be stopped, and Prezeau issued a temporary injunction against the developer in July.

A month later, Wilderness Development cleared more trees and poured the foundation for the 14,000-square-foot maintenance building, court records said.
ABOVE THE LAW ? You Decide !!!

The McKays went back to court in early fall and asked Prezeau to stop the construction project. The judge said the developers could do what was needed to protect what they had already built. The developers then finished the building, which was "well out of sight of the Wilderness Club homes, but right in the face of the McKays,"

Guth has said.In March, Prezeau ruled that the Wilderness Club had violated the subdivision's covenants and set a trial so a jury could determine damages. On April 4, the jury awarded the McKays $350,000 for the value of the property and another $6,500 for the value of the trees cut. Jurors also found Wilderness Development had acted with "malice" and ordered $1 million in punitive damages. Now this Has ALL Changed.

Start Asking Questions Folks. Lincoln County NEEDS
Big Corporation for Big Tax Dollars. You Lose !!!

Crystal L. The award was for 1.35 Million, and the lawsuit from the other neighbors is still pending. My guess is that some of this will go on for years. There are wells in the neighborhood that were sucking air last summer.

The amount of water use for the golf course may drop the levels of the nearby lakes and wells. Some say that Carpenter Lake fluxuates with the seasonal levels of Lake Koocanusa, the water table in that area (according to my sources) and in my opinion cannot handle a golf course of this magnitude. What a Waste of fresh clean montana water to keep fields green for seasonal visitors.
Water is valuable and this golf course, in that area is not a good thing for the local water table. It is not good for the lakes, fisheries our our local recreational values.

It seems the Wilderness Club wants us to believe that they did not act with malice and that they did not know they were doing anything wrong.

They act like others were violating the covenants so it was ok that they did. They still claim that the landowner gave permission to cut down their trees. Why would anyone let this amount of trees come down, get no money for them, and ruin their privacy forever.

It makes no sense.Apparantly the jury decided that cutting the trees down was not trespassing but that the landowners were due the value of the trees.

With this I would have to assume that it was proven that the wilderness club had legal easement and therefore had the right to cut the trees.

If you look at the Google Earth map, which seems to show the old county roads, you see that there is an old county road that runs through the wilderness club resort. Can we, the public, open up this road for our use.

Or can only big business like the wilderness club and tungsten holdings force these roads open but we the taxpayers of the county cannot have these roads opened for our use.

It seems as if the Wilderness Club developers were advised a number of times not to use the 3rd access through a local neighborhood and they ignored this.

The rumor mill has plenty of stories of the wilderness club and their real estate broker saying they will do what they want because they can. What this all boils down to is that though the Wilderness Club was VERY wrong and lost this lawsuit, this is just the cost of doing business to them and the Resort will keep moving forward.

The long term issues will continue to come up due to the fact that the Wilderness Club Golf resort has forced their way into to an area that may have not been the right choice for their project. I feel that not enough accurate testing was done on the water table. I feel that the chemicals to keep the lawns green will end up in lake koocanusa and this will hurt fisheries and in turn all of us. I feel that the water table will weaken and the neighborhood will suffer even more.

It is claimed that the Developers are Honest - Above Board and Open in all phases of Development.... The Rumor Mill suggests and is most often accurate, that this is in No Way True. The wilderness club claims No Trespass, the photos I have show yellow caution tape tied to the trees of the neighbors.

These trees were on private property and did not tie the tape on themselves.

The photos also show a gate and post removed that was not on WC property.
The photos show private property caving in due to Trespass of machinery as well as trees marked up where machinery trespassed.

There was even an old road that had been used as a horse trail that had been caved in - Again Trespass on Private Property. And not to mention the giant mound of dirt and dust ,the deliberate jake braking of commercial trucks and the Rumors that SO MANY have agreed is true with the shooting of dogs and the break in.

It was like some sort of a war zone over there. The wilderness club still claims they had permission to open up the road in question, its simply not true. They have had easement, but not permission.

If you have an easement you don't have the right to steal trees, rip out gates and disrespect all involved along the way.

Apparantley the private life and relationship between husband and wife was questioned by the council for the Wilderness Club. This is Shocking, what a last straw grasp, who cares, what could this possibly have to do with whether the Wilderness Club broke the law or not, Come On, how low will they Go ?

The Wilderness Club claims that their GIANT building, dusty roads, tree removal, noise pollution, fertilizer use and heavy commercial traffic actually enhanced the neighbors land values. NO WAY. I don't want to live there - do you? Your life would be trucks all day everyday picking up with traffic as the development gets buyers for the homes.

The commercial building is an industrial building with workers coming and going with vehicles and machinery ALL DAY. The road brings up a LOT of dust. There is loud heaters and machinery that runs 24 hours a day. There is to be an 8 foot fence with barbed tops.
And this according to Frampton - council for the WC is an enhancement to their property.

Not for ANY of my Clients.I am not opposed to development necessarily or to big business.

I have no grudge of any kind, I simply wish the Wilderness Club would have done the right thing in the first place. My personal experience is that they do not ask questions or seek answers they just throw the biggest stone they have and hope they take you down enough that you will simply Shut Your Mouth.

Look back through this Blog and you will see what my run in with the Wilderness Club was. I had a blog with positive community news about the wilderness club.

I deliberately kept this blog positive and YET the Wilderness Club had legal council send me a Demand Letter to stop talking about them on my blog. It was simply community interest. But because I get internet marketing and came up higher in the search engines than they did at the time - they were mad and instead of calling to advertise on my site or even meeting with me they simply got the legal system involved - WHY ?

Back than I would have been more than happy to work with them for the good of all. But they Could Not Simply Do the Right Thing. We will continue our Eye on the Wilderness Club and we sincerely hope that things get better for all involved.Be Well Folks, Have a Great Spring and Summer and Watch Your Neighbors back.

Just Do The Right Thing and Everything Else Will Work Out.

Crystal L. Obviously I am glad to see that Big Money cannot run over property owners in Eureka Montana. Golf Course Resorts and Big Corporations cannot take your property rights away from you. You deserve quiet enjoyment and you deserve to live in the property as you bought it. They finished the building, saying they had to in order to protect the foundation. Even though they were ordered to STOP construction, they knew that if they continued that there would be too much value in the building and the Judge would let them keep it. That is what they were banking on and that is what has seemed to of happened, according to my sources.

So what this means to you is that ANYONE with enough money can move in next to you, violate your covenants, cut down your trees, break into your home, shoot your dog, cause SEVERE property erosion on your borders, take the VALUE out of your property that you have worked a lifetime to build, harass you, violate your property rights and ignore a court order telling them to Stop. You may get some sort of damages but you WILL NOT get your life back. You will not get your dog back. You will never get the real VALUE out of your property.

I thought that if you violated a judge’s order that you were in contempt. I guess I am wrong on that. Joe Purdy and the Wilderness Club claim that the neighbors gave them permission to cut down their trees and build a giant road. It has been said to me that Joe said he was going to cut down the trees because he could. They were not given permission of any kind. They simply cut the trees down, took them away, and built a road to build a LARGE hideous building that violates the covenant and ruins lives.

The property next to the Commercial Building was once a place of sanctuary, with trees blocking neighbor houses and noise. Now there is a huge amount of dust, the trees have been removed without the landowners permission, there is constant light and noise, there is constant traffic, and the stress is absolutely unbearable.

The Wilderness Club has ruined the lives of hard working local residents and for what ?

For a Building, to house chemical fertilizers to keep a luxury, private golf course green. A building put here so as to ruin the adjacent landowners property values while keeping this “maintenance building” out of site of the homes in the Wilderness Club Resort, thereby making sure the NICE homes do not have to look at this building while making the landowner not part of their exclusive club, look at the building – suffer the noise and dust and 24 hour lighting.

Apparently the “High End” homes are given more rights to a good quality of life than those who have lived here a lifetime.

It is Simple Wrong.

Why can’t the Wilderness Club Montana just do the Right Thing.

And why doesn’t anybody seem to care? Is Eureka Montana so desperate for this resort because we need the taxes that we will literally ruin people’s lives to make it happen? I guess so.
IF You Buy a Lot or a Home in the Wilderness Club Montana than you are basically saying It is ok to ruin peoples lives, it is ok for Big Money to violate property rights and do whatever they please regardless of the law or what is ethically right.

If you have money than your version of the Truth seems to hold more weight than what actually happened. This is what seems to be true for the situation with the Wilderness Club Montana.

What Happens Next ?

Starting April 1st there will be a trial to determine what damages the neighbors have suffered. They will never get their life, as they new it back. And they will never get the price for their real estate that it would have been worth had the Wilderness Club Golf Resort not ruined their property value. I personally would not pay a dime for that property and neither would any client, (real estate buyer). Why in the world would you want a home where you front yard is caving in because of a giant road to the back side of resort is to close and undermining your property, where a giant heating and cooling system is so loud you cannot here the crickets, where lights blare 24 hours a day, where you live in the woods but do not have any trees for a buffer between houses, and people are constantly in your front yard with machinery to maintain an elite resort. No Way, I could not sell this property for any price.

There is absolutely no doubt that what the Wilderness Club has done in this situation has severely hurt the property values of the adjacent landowners and all they seem to care about is their bottom line. As a real estate broker owner, I care about people’s property rights before – during and long after their real estate transaction. And what the Wilderness Club has done is inexcusable period.

Keep in Mind folks, Fair Market Value is different than appraised Value. Just because a property will appraise for a certain price does not mean that anyone will buy it for that price.

In Conclusion, ask yourself – Who Will move in next to you and Take away Your Lifestyle ? Lets hope it is not property that Joe Purdy of Montana Properties is in charge of or property purchased by the Norcal Group out of Calgary Alberta, or really any Big Business .

Crystal L. And the Wilderness Club Continues still TODAY to work on the INSIDE of the Building. They were aparantley told that they may have to remove the building. Another words if they lose the lawsuit that the Koocanusa Estates residents have against them they may have to tear down their investment.
The Wilderness Club seems to think that they own the LAW in Lincoln County.
Since THIS illegal project started and the Wilderness Club chopped down the trees of private land owners to make a road that they did not have a right to make, the Wilderness Club had the attitude that if they just do it than no will STOP them. If they have enough money invested than the Laws of Lincoln will step aside and just say, "oh, well you have to much money into it, go ahead and keep it". I hope this is not true, but it Seems the Wilderness Club believes it is.
"It is Easier to say - oops - I'm Sorry, than to ask for permission", "Easier to Ask Forgiveness than to abide by the Law and do the right thing in the First Place."
Just when the Residents thought they would get some peace, they are now experience a different kind of stress. Loud Heaters and Lights blaring into their home, Construction Continues and the general feeling is that Big Money seems to be above the Law.

It does not matter what the Lincoln County Judge tells them to do they seem to Stand Above the Law, and Joe Purdy, their Realtor, whom I have not yet put into my BLOG is at the forfront of their blatant disrespect for the Laws of Lincoln county and the Rights of Private landowers.

I had purposely kept Joe's name out of my reports on the wilderness club, but if Joe will not tell the truth and stand up for the rights of property owners in a valley he claims to love than it's time to tell the truth about Joe Purdy.

In this situation Joe has been quoted as saying He will do what he wants. Joe Purdy claims he was given "written permission" to remove trees from private property for a road to be used to access a large commercial building that violates the local covenants. This building is to house chemical fertilizers and serve as a base of operation for grounds keeping equipment for the Wilderness Club Resort in Eureka Montana. The idea is to bring the "help" in the "back way" so as to not Disturb the Elite Group of landowner that reside within the Wilderness Club Golf Resort. However, it not only disturbs but RUINS the way of life the neighbors had been living previously.

You may think that this does not affect YOU. However, it does, if BIG Money can move into your "neck of the woods" and ruin the life you thought you moved here to enjoy or the life that you have always known here than it affects us all. It Seems that The Wilderness Club Cannot be Stopped. And despite the order from the Judge, they continue to work.

Today they are Plumbing the building they were told to stop working on. Today they are putting in Electrical Wiring on the Building they were TOLD to STOP working on.

They WILL NOT stop, and it seems there is NO WAY to Make Them. It's as if they know they will never be made to remove the building and they certainly cannot magically make the stolen trees grow back and will, seemingly, never be made to PAY for the value of the trees.

Well Joe Purdy is Off to Mexico on Vacation and the Lives of the Neighbors at the Wilderness Club Montana continues to be Hell.

Slideshow of Area Photos before building went in andafter the trees were illegally removed.http://www.flickr.com/photos/northwest-montana/sets/72157602296757871/show/

Crystal L. Living with constant harassment and stress can take a toll on Life. I am very excited to know that I live in a County where the rights of locals, of private residents REALLY are Now being listened to. The trees won't come back and who knows what will end up happening but there is peace for now until the fighting begins again in Spring.

The Wilderness Club has been apparentley court ordered to to Stop Construction on the building in controversy. They thought they were above the law, above the covenants and above the rights of the neighbors to have a peaceful existence. They cut down the neighbors trees and harassed them for months upon months and now the local law is listening. The Wilderness Club Resort may even have to tear down this building that is in violation of the covenants that the neighbors have always had to follow. Even if the building is removed, the trees are gone and Life is Changed forever.

I feel the bunker is inappropriate, it violates the covenants, encroaches on the neighbors land and rights to quiet enjoyment, it will hold herbacides and pesticides that WILL pollute the air, the water quality and the quality of life in the neighborhood.

A BIG HAND to those who do not let up in fighting for what is right and Do Not Let big business take away their life. In the face of dogs being shot, cursing, fighting and lies these residents stood up for their rights and now they will get a chance in April, apparentley to be heard.

The Wilderness Club is fighting hard to change our way of life and to own our area, to take over our air space, pollute our water, violate the rights of neighboring properties and NOW the locals will be heard. I am proud to be a Resident of Lincoln County with this Injunction, it creates a way for people to be heard. The Realtor on the project told the land owners next door that he would do what he wants, he ordered the removal of trees and was the leader of the pack as they ran over the land owners rights. This injunction says to ALL residents of Lincoln County that Big Money, big Business and Local " Big Names" cannot ruin your life and get away with it. You will have your day to be heard. YAHOO I say...

I believe there was an injunction last spring for Stop the Wilderness Club from clearing a road to the bunker but they did it anyway. I will soon show you slideshows on the issues from that time.

Lets protect the Rights of those Who Live in and Love Eureka

PS. I was asked to make sure and include that there were 4 major issues the judge ruled against the Wilderness Club..... main one being they cannot work on the "small maintanence building" they put right next to the McKays building, along with the fact also they cannot divide that 10 acre piece into 3 lots since Prezeau ruled that the covenants cannot be broken. This is good news for those folks.

Crystal L. Whitefish Montana has had resorts, golf and skiing for over 30 years. Yet businesses are still folding. I had an office in the Whitefish mall for a couple of years and no one really walked by. The mall was pretty much empty.

The folks that buy these luxury homes want to get away from their regular life, if they buy a home on a ski hill or in a golf course resort community than mostly they stay their for the time they have off. They are not walking the streets, they may have a dinner or two and buy a local trinket but that does nothing to support the community. What is does do is provide tax dollars to the county.

The county wants this, I am sure. However, YOU the local citizens WILL NOT benefit from the WILDERNESS CLUB. They will consumer your boat docks, raise your taxes, turn their nose up at you in the streets and if you’re their neighbor they will STEAL your trees, and do unthinkable acts to get you to SHUT UP.

What they WILL NOT do is the RIGHT THING.

Who Else may Want the Wilderness Club, well tax dollars and numbers create more revenue for the local police department, my guess is that they want it. Why else would they assume and blame neighbors for the infamous port a potty incident while ignoring the dogs being shot and homes being broke into.

Who Else, well may the Real Estate Industry or a very small part of the Real Estate industry may want the Wilderness Club Resort so they can make commission off of selling homes and land in the resort ?

Other than all of this, think about FOLKs,
Does having this Resort here really benefit you ?

Of Course Barry Cole, the Norcal Group
and Nick Faldo also benefit from t
his disgraceful treatment of local citizens.

I personally do not benefit either way. I believe YOU have the right to enjoy your property and your home and that YOUR family has a right to quiet peaceful enjoyment of that home. You have a right to have your DOGS not shot, to NOT be harassed, to NOT have your Timber STOLEN and you have a right to what you thought you bought in your real estate purchase which was a parcel with covenants to protect you and trees that would only be removed with your permission. Again, to those who say THIS is NONE of my Business. I ask - whose BUSINESS is it ?

Crystal L. I have been to public events, where "the media" has shown up and than when I read what they have written about what happened or what was said. It is painfully obvious that reporters report the news they see, from their side. I write about what I am passionate about and I am passionated about Your Rights. I want YOU to buy a piece of land and be treated fairly, given the right to quietly enjoy this land and I want you to always be heard when your neighbor is somehow violating your rights or the rights that you were TOLD you had when you purchased the piece of property.

I invite members of Norcal Group, and the Wilderness Club to Post Comments on this website. Maybe you are not taking trees off of private property in order to FORCE an OLD county road easement. Maybe you are not digging a chemical fertilizer bunker in with dirt walls so deep the neighbors land is caving in, maybe you do not PLAN an 8 foot cyclone fence with razor sharp barbs on and possibly passed the property boundaries of neighboring landowners. My video camera was not handy. I intend to install web cams all around my home to record these air traffic infractions. We have had helicopters come down on us on our deck and could not see the NUMBERs because they were too dark, apparantly the law says that the tail-number must be a contrasting color. So if you get photos or video of planes that do not follow this law or low flying aircraft taking away YOUR RIGHT to quiet enjoyment, email us the photos at SavvyBroker@yahoo.com
and call the Air Traffic Authorities at 1-406-449-5270 in Helena Montana.
Don't let this get so bad that you act irrationally. The "crystal lakes guy" as folks call him, comes down so low, that you can look him in the air. Apparantley these folks feel they have the right to TO INVADE our airspace, and because they have money, they are allowed to do whatever they want, whenever they want to.Many of you folks tell me stories of aircraft problems, lets get videos, get photos and STOP this blatant attack on our Northwest Montana Lifestyle. Don't assume that becasue THEY have big money and we do not, that YOU have no Rights. The Internet is a Powerful Space, get me the photos of these dis-Respectful Pilots that buzz you at home or on the mountain trails and Lets Put an End to This. Complaining to local numbers, tell the authorities what is happening to us - is not working -they need photos - plane numbers. If the number starts with N it is a US plane and if it Starts with a C it is a Canadian Plane.
We Do Have Rights. Step Up Folks and Speak for Your and Yours.

Why Can't the Wilderness Club Resort Just Do the Right Thing ? Because they do not have to. There is a NEW Resort in Town, they are from Calgary BC, and they now seem to own the tobacco valley and they WILL do whatever they want to, or get someone else to do their dirty work. As teh resort gets more beautiful with the greens and the building, they are logging every tree they can find and yet saying on their website how they love trees, and even talking of Old Growth - their media is simple not true. Really they are running over anyone they have to, to create their resort. Now we understand that their are those who are making a living from the Wilderness Club, however if this was YOUR PROPERTY on the back end of this resort how would you feel. If your quality of life was changed forever by BIG MONEY, how would you feel ?

Stay Tuned to this Blog for information on our New Website covering the supposed violation of covenants, the underground bunker, the wells that are sucking in air, the way neighbors are being treated and more.

Crystal L. We have Discussed Water Usage, Fertilizer Use, Noise and Air pollution and Recently we have been told that the Wilderness Clubis breaking covenants on property they own in the Koocanusa Estate Subdividion and disturbing the quality of life of the residents in the Koocanusa Estates Subdivision. They are building a large commercial building in a residential area and NO ONE can STOP them.Once again The Wilderness Club isAbove The Law.Now residents have complained, have got attorneys and NO ONE is listening.

The Wilderness Club seems to be in a big hurry to build an underground bunker for fertilizer and to construct a large commerical building in which is restricted by local covenants. Hard working people who live in that community cannot have a commercial building for their business but the Wilderness Club can. The Wilderness Club seems to be able to do what ever they want without consideration for the neighborhood.

The Wilderness Club has built a very large road to create a BACK access to their service
buildings. This road dusts and causes noise pollution to neighboring properties. And this road affects the erosion of neighboring property. Apparantley, the RESORT does not want the GUESTS to be exposed to the Traffic of the "Service People"Its like they JUST magically Appear and SERVE... no MUSS not FUSS...
~
Yet those who moved to Montana to enjoy the Lifestyle that
the Wilderness Club is trying to sell and enjoy Lake Koocanusa
that the Wilderness Club is Promoting, get their "Montana Lifestyle"
taken away by the wilderness club. The Wilderness Club Claims
to Love Lake Koocanusa but they are clearing the land, Polluting
the water table, using huge amounts of Water to make
Greens in a time when Northwest Montana has severe water shortages.
For the Fertilizer bunker they have apparantley cleared
5 acres of TREES, yet their website talks about how much
they LOVE Montana and love the trees. The Fertilizer is poisen
to the natural habitat and is a threat to the water table,
the drinking water -
nitrates in fertilizer is poisenous to humans.

I am not writing this for any personal gain.
I am a local Real Estate Broker, I am not interesting in
selling real estate in the Wilderness Club Subdivision, nor
do I have any financial gain from telling you this information.
People are telling me what is going on and I am telling you.
I am a Blogger, I want to protect human rights, basic rights
to quiet enjoyment and quality of life.

Its all Like Some Hollywood Movie where Big Money comes in
and runs over the Locals, and than things go from bad to worse.
I have heard stories of odd things happening to the residentsof Lake Koocanusa,

I hope that ALL parties are acting withthe highest of integrity.

Why can't people just respect each others rights ?

Crystal L. They are probably bidding around a dime, because no one else is bidding on it) what this means is that every time someone FINDS the Wilderness Club Website in the top of the search and clicks on through to the site, they pay around 10 cents.

Now they just need to bid on the term

"whitefish real estate" "eureka montana"

and other terms to be found for EVERYTHING -

Money Talks, so why throw a fit at me
when you can get in the search engines

with YOUR WALLETS.

- Good JOB !!!

--------------

However, they are not bidding in Yahoo.

Crystal L. Many people were disturbed, some complained but nothing can be done. The Wilderness Club has "money" and with this they intend to "do what they want"

They fly over "wilderness valley" as if they own it and with no regard for property owners right to private property and quiet enjoyment.

Today, My video camera was unreachable at that moment, and so was my ...

the Wilderness Club Super Chopper with Black Windows
came down so close to SPY on us that they almost touched down on the lawn.

They circled us while painting our house and tipped the chopper down to take a close look. It seems the Wilderness Club Resort in Eureka Montana is Above the Law. They fly around and check out EVERYBODY, it is HARASSMENT and nothing can be done. I have a video clip of the chopper from a distance I will share with you later. We are starting a Petition for THOSE who have been
harassed by this BLACK chopper who has the right to come out of no where
and violate our right to quiet enjoyment.

This is NOT a NEW issue FOR
the Residence of Eureka Montana.

I was keeping this blog positive for a year
but THEY did not appreciate that so I am
Telling you The Truth.

I have lived here my whole life, I am not
bitter about development, I do not hate MONEY,
money is good, I do however cringe when I hear the
way some folks have been treated by the
Wilderness Club Montana,
Hard working Eureka Locals looked down on,
harassed by choppers, called to service NOW
and treated with disprespect.

Real Estate is BIG MONEY here
and those of us who make good money
selling real estate do NOT have the Right
to look down on the families who built this valley,
and those who were looking for a peaceful home here.

Its like a MOVIE

the Big Resort moves in and everybody has to stand
at attention ~ Or ELSE. Its sad, it gives Calgary a bad name
and I have met a lot of wonderful people from Calgary.

_________________________________
other Daily Wilderness Club Tidbits

Also today I heard that awhile back

the Wilderness Club had illegal aliens
working for them and they were deported,

it was said this was in the paper,
I guess I missed that one.

Why not hire the locals ?

I also heard today that they are hiring

their own crew for general lawn care
and other jobs that they

do not intend to give to locals.

Crystal L. They are really mad that My websites come up higher in the search engines than their websites do, so they have hired an attorney to handle me. I hope this case will be a benefit to Intellectual and Trademark law for all of us. My goal for this site was to inform you about the wilderness club golf resort being built in the Eureka Montana area; but they are trying to stop me from this.

The Wilderness Club wants to push around the locals, give us menial jobs, use up our water, cut down all their trees and plant shrubs, ruin our highways with hideous billboards, and they want only ONE real estate broker in charge of all the golf course sales here. All this and they claim to be a benefit for our town. Exclusivity is no benefit for anyone. Read their website, you will have to search hard to find it.

They talk about boating access they DO NOT have, they talk about local shows and fine dining and there is NONE. They have promoted Lake Koocanusa and our daylight hours as if they own it. Folks, Lake Koocanusa is a reservoir.

Today as with most days, huge amounts of dust blows up off of the lake because most of the year the water is way down. Its not a REAL LAKE FOLKS. I will get you a video of how much dust is stirred up every day to let you know what your paying for to live in a giant dust storm. And all you folks who email me about Rexford, you seem to think it is a dreamy little place to live. Rexford is great, I grew up there. I grew up on the "Reservoir" The Wilderness Club Subdivision, gated, private golf cours will take the water from Rexford and one day it will not be this great little town.

Order a packet from their website and than email me. I will tell you what is HYPE and what is true. You WILL travel 1 hour over icy roads for restaurants and SHOWS.

You will be driven to a public access for your boats to launch. And most of the year the water is to low to launch a boat. In the high season the public boat docks are packed. Last summer the Tobacco Plains boat ramp was filled with swimmers, carloads of people partying, garbage,
and lots of speed boats and funseekers. Coming Soon - I will get you videos of the boat launch
area you will HAVE to use. You will Line up, there is only one boat launched at a time.

____________________________________

The Wilderness Club Claims

They Claim I am using their "good" name to benefit my real estate business. We are number one in searches for Northwest Montana, we are a Northwest Montana Internet Marketing Company, I DO NOT need to use their GOOD NAME, they think they have, to get real estate business. The POINT of the website was to provide information on the Wilderness Club Subdivision, it was not negative in any way. But because the Wilderness Club is afraid I am getting Web traffic that they should be getting but don't want to pay for as other working Montana folks do, they want to SHUT MY voice down. With over 2 million website with the words wilderness club on it, they are GUNNING for me.

I had kept this BLOG positive, I even spoke of one neighbor who had been treated nicely by the Wilderness Club and they are demanding that I stop blogging about them. I now intend to explore the dark side of the Wilderness Club Subdivision.

The Wilderness Club offers, supposedly, a referral fee to agents who send them clients or leads. I am not so niave as to actually believe this, however, if it were true why would they not want other agents to get clients and send them to the wilderness club. They handle all of their own sales and pretend that other offices and local agents are included. Later in this post I will show you where I attempted to send them leads and a nice man at the Wilderness Club office in Whitefish assisted me, but my leads supposedly fisled OUT.

I believe this, it happens often, and he clarified how the LEAD went.
Weeks later the office of the local represention of the wilderness club,
the Office that SOLD them the property the resort is being built on, this office
called me and asked me about the gentlemen in Whitefish, they asked they I send them
ALL coorespondence with this gentleman, I was also asked to send them leads instead
of sending them to Whitefish, I told them I would if they offered the same deal, I faxed
them the Referral form that the Whitefish Wilderness Club office sent me and after
this I heard nothing until the Demand Letter.

After this I was TOLD that the request for the emails was to DEFEND
me for using the mark in good faith. WHAT ? I do not need defended,
I was doing NOTHING wrong. I was than told that the Wilderness Club was
pissed about my websites. WHY ?

It was than suggested that the Wilderness Club had made me a HUGE
offer and I rejected it - UNTRUE...

More on this Later.....

************************************

My Website Ranking

The Wilderness Club is upset because my websites rank higher in the search engines than theirs do. They are mad that SPIKER communication who own their domain names are not doing A GOOD JOB AT MARKETING THEM, and so they are taking it out on me. Don't punish me because I get Internet Marketing. The Wilderness Club claims to be upset at the use of "their" mark but they do not
even own their own domain names for their websites.

Now also included in the "demand Letter" from the Wilderness Club is the registration of their "mark" they registered it in Feb. 28 - 2007 and they claim usage as of March 15th 2006. Convenient, they must have looked in the whois database and saw that the domain name this site is on was registered on March 30th of 2006. Also, My Website was registered and used before "their" "mark" was
registered with the state of Montana - yet they want their registered "mark" to
serve as some sort of proof that they can tell me to STOP talking positively
about them. Again, My Website was to report the progress on the Wilderness Club

This could go all the way to the Montana Supreme Court and/or the courts that have juristication over domain names and intellectual property on the Internet which I believe is in Virginia. I will let you folks know what happens.

___________________________________

Lots of Media Outlets talk about the Wilderness Club.
They are trying to exclude me. My question, If there is a chance of
this than why in the world would Lincoln County let them
come in ? Well its because the County needs those tax dollars.

I am collecting DATA on the aquifer the Wilderness Club
preformed their tests in. Rumour has it that the tested the wrong aquifer.

Some Wilderness Club media talks about "Old Growth Forest"
there are NO old growth forests on the property,
and if there was, they have logged the land
for the GREENS and the trees left, are small and quite
a few were burned while burning dead grass under them.

(coming Soon - Photos of the Logging Operation)

271 home sites; 47
luxury cabins

Folks this is too many homes for our watershed.
It is too many homes this close to our lakes and waterways.
We want the Tax Dollars; we Want the Jobs
we Do not want to be treated badly along the way....

____________________________________________
____________________________________________
Do you think that this Golf Course Resort
will use Herbacides, Fertilizers, and do you wonder
if This Will affect Your drinking water ?

Check around, there are many people
who have gotten sick from farms, ranches, golf resorts
that are upstream in the aquifer from their wells
and using these chemicals.

This WILL affect Rexford's Water, Koocanusa Estates,
the water YOU drink when you camp at Lake Koocanusa Rexford Bench,
and all those that are below. Unless the Wilderness Club
plans to use ALL NATURAL ways to make sure the local WEEDS
and native plants do not "mess up the greens".

******************************

Tidbits - Truth in Media

Glacier National Park
is WAY more
than an Hour away.

I have a Wilderness Club Booklet that
says it borders the Ten Lakes Scenic Area,
and in this same book it says it is 36 miles away.
Crazy, False Media to Lure you to their Resort.

This handout says that the Ten Lakes Scenic Area
is a Designated Wilderness, this is a LIE..
It is a proposed Wilderness and may NEVER
actually be a Wilderness because local folks cannot
agree on its land use, with snowmobiles, skiers and such.

They say Glacier Park is right next door...
WHAT ? (Sun Media/Kevin Udahl)

While Nick Faldo's desire to play golf may have faded over the past few years, his ambition to remain successful has not.

The six-time major winner is best known now for his colourful analysis with the CBS golf team but Faldo's busy days don't end there.

As the main man behind Faldo Design, the Orlando, Fla., native said between dreaming up the blueprints for the world's newest layouts and following the PGA with CBS,

it's almost as if he's still a regular on the Tour.

"We have about 20 projects on the go, a dozen under construction in literally all four corners of the earth," said Faldo, who was in Calgary recently promoting his newest project --

The Wilderness Club in Montana.

"We've got a links course in Iceland and then there's South Africa to Montana and there's a lot happening in Europe.

Crystal L. But for that first pay-per-view, he took a hard shot to the chin and had to hand back $360,000 in refunds to absorb advertising costs when Tyson got hurt prior to the battle.

That, though, brings back memories of the late Nick 'The Ankle Express' Zubray, the first man to attempt pay-per-view boxing.

Everything Nick touched turned to dirt, it seemed, and after a Muhammed Ali match could not be seen because of technical problems in bringing it into the Stampede Corral, he gave all of the people in the joint an opportunity

to get their $10 ticket cost back.

He refunded more than 3,000 sawbucks but had a paid attendance of only 2,700. Even the people he padded the gate with freebies with went

for the refund. That was Nick's life in a nutshell.

BIG WINNER

When the National Hockey League settled its lockout or strike or whatever it was a couple of years back, I, personally, was hoping that would be the end of poker on television sports channels.

As you probably know, that's not the case

and it's going the other way.

But I'd like to pass on an interesting story from poker which involves a young ball player who will go nameless.

He got hooked on televised poker, gets into the odd game in town but also plays online. He managed to win an online tournament with a prize of an expense-paid holiday to a South Pacific Island where he was entered into a three-day tournament.

Well, all he did there was finish in a tie with two others, bringing home US$83,000. I hate poker but I love poker stories like that.

ON THE LINKS

Here we are in mid-May and I can now finally

say I played some golf in town.

After getting three games in south of the border, I got to play Heritage Pointe Tuesday and can report for the 15th straight year this public track opened in mid-season shape.

And Thursday, the stop was The Canal at Delacour and while tricky as all get out, the greens at this layout are simply magnificent. Owner Doug McIntosh has about 50 members at an $18,000 price tag and reports that when he gets to 110 that buy-in will jump considerably. It is, though,

a track the roving golfer should see.

STAYIN' BUSY

Over the years of covering golf in this city, I've been lucky enough to meet almost all of the greats in golf.

Arnold Palmer, Jack Niklaus, Lee Trevino, Chi Chi Rodriguez and we could go on and on.

But it was a pleasure to chat, albeit for only maybe five minutes, with England's Nick Faldo a week or so ago. He was in town promoting a golf-course he's designed near Eureka in Montana which is being backed by Calgary money but he told us by agreeing to do CBS color on the PGA tour this year, he has cut his own game back drastically.

He told us he will play in only the British Open, British Senior and the Dunhill Cup this year.

Mind you, this golf course designing business is going quite well and he has some 25 projects on the go in places like Iceland and South Africa.

Crystal L. Painsi has

a 1.4-acre site north of the WestJet office building at the corner of 11th Street
and 53rd Avenue N.E., across from the Canada Post sorting plant.

Poon McKenzie Architects has completed the design of a

20,300-square-foot single-storey office building featuring brick,

block and glass with two canopied entrances, the main one

on the west side. Ceiling heights range from nine to 12 feet with a

15-foot-high section in the northeast corner. Leasing agents

Jim Duggan and David Watley of Target Realty say they're seeking a single tenant for the space who will be offered naming rights. A big feature has to be
parking; code requirement is for 42 stalls, but it has been planned

to accommodate 68 surface stalls amid good landscaping.

Centron Construction is ready to build it in time for occupancy this fall.

Daniel Jouanneau, the French ambassador to Canada, starts an official visit

to Alberta Friday that will begin in Calgary and include a tour

of the oilsands. He'll be accompanied by Luc Serot Almeras,

the new consul general in the Vancouver office who has
previously served his country in Thailand, South Africa,

United States, Libya and most recently in Ireland. On Saturday,

Mayor Dave Bronconnier will be at Calgary International Airport

to welcome the French minister delegate for industries, Francois Loos,

as he arrives from Paris to join them on the trip to Fort McMurray;

they return to Calgary for a breakfast with industry leaders

Monday. Well-known Calgary developer Abed Itani has purchased

another huge tract of land in the northwest quadrant of the city.

Through Bob Young and Rob McElhoes of Colliers International,

he has bought the 202-acre Chan lands for his company,

Intergulf Cidex,
at a price of $24 million.
Located at the junction of Sarcee Trail and the new Stoney Trail freeway,

it's just north of The Hamptons and adjacent to the new

950,000-square-foot Beacon Hill shopping centre, anchored

by Costco and Home Depot. Itani has a lot of experience in the

Calgary market, being responsible for developments such as Lynx Ridge,

Hidden Valley, the Lake at Heritage Pointe and the underconstruction

Westgate Park towers. He says he plans 13 acres of commercial

development for 50,000 square feet of box stores, 27 acres of light

industrial that would be ideal for an auto mall and the remainder
for residential properties.
David Parker
Calgary Herald

A convention is bound for Calgary that is expected to attract some 10,000 to the
Pengrowth Saddledome. The
events have been held twice in Vancouver, but the July 28-29 conference is the first to
come to Calgary. Five core speakers, including Max Lucado, widely regarded as America's leading inspirational author with more than 40 million books in print, plus music group Avalon
will be appearing to an audience that is expected to draw from throughout Alberta as
well as Saskatchewan and southeastern B.C. The Hyatt and Marriott have been chosen as conference hotels. Women of Faith is expected to boost the city's economy by some $1.2 million.
There's a get-together today for friends of Dale Evans, vice-president and general
manager at Brookfield Properties, who has decided to retire. For the past several years,
he has been responsible for looking after Bankers Hall, but I do believe he wants to take
more time to enjoy the game of golf.
He's a great guy and his position will be taken over by an equally nice and talented real
estate professional. Margaret Dreher, formerly responsible for O&Y's Western Canada
operations and a past chair of BOMA Calgary who joined Brookfield when it acquired
O&Y, is set to manage Bankers Hall right away.
Some time ago, I announced plans by Calgary-based Norcal Group to develop a 545-
acre high-end golf course community encompassing 272 home sites and 47 luxury
turnkey cabins near the 145-kilometre- long Lake Kookanasu in Montana.
The project recently received preliminary planning approval from Lincoln County and the
first phase will include 75 homes sites -- ranging from $250,000 to $500,000 US -- and
five cabins. Meanwhile, Nick Faldo, winner of six major tournaments and the 2008 European Ryder Cup captain, is designing the Wilderness Club par-72 signature golf course. His company
has designed courses on every continent, but this is its first in the Rocky Mountains.
A real estate sales centre has opened in Whitefish and another will open in Calgary next
month. Construction on the golf course begins shortly with opening slated for spring of
2008.

Crystal L. The Wilderness Club, a 545-acre secluded development near the Canadian border, plans to break ground May 5.Indian Springs is focused around a public 18-hole golf course. Lots range from 3,920 square feet to 9.2 acres and will include 199 single-family, three condominium, seven commercial and 134 townhomes/motorcoach lots.Although public hearings for the Wilderness Club drew a fair amount of opposition from neighbors, the Indian Springs project has been much more accepted because of the developers’ willingness to become a part of the community, Commissioner Marianne Roose said.“It was a whole different atmosphere,” she said about the Indian Springs public hearing in Eureka. “These two gentlemen sat up to the table with the rest of us. Their goal is to blend in.”Roose said she believes the Indian Springs developers have shown a genuine concern for the Eureka community, noting how school officials have approached them about accommodating swimming lessons in an indoor pool planned for the property.About 187 acres will be set aside as open space — 100 acres for walking trails and 87 acres for the golf course.Indian Springs will be primarily second homes for its residents. About 22 to 66 of the homes would be year-round.The subdivision would be built out during 10 years.Roose said there were questions about the impact on local aquifers, but she added that the developers assured the commissioners they would work with state water officials to provide proper water monitoring. The project is still subject to recommendations from the Lincoln County Planning Department. The county recently appointed its first Planning Board, an advisory group that will be up and running in about three months.AT THE Wilderness Club, plans for a charitable foundation to benefit the greater Tobacco Valley community will be announced at a sod-turning event May 5.“The Wilderness Club Foundation is one way that we can be a good neighbor and give back to the people of this community,” Hardy Nielsen, president and chief executive officer of the Calgary-based Norcal Group, said in a prepared release.Norcal is the developer of the Wilderness Club. For each sale of a home site or cabin, Wilderness Club will donate $1,000 to the foundation. Details about how the funds will be managed and distributed to area organizations still are being worked out, Nielsen said.In addition, the Wilderness Club is developing plans to become “a Big Brother” to John’s Course, a local no-greens-fee golf course for the handicapped. The Wilderness Club will feature an 18-hole golf course designed by golfing legend Nick Faldo. The first phase of development will include 75 home sites and 5 luxury cabins. Prices for the home sites will start at $250,000. The cabins will start at $700,000.At completion, the development will encompass 272 home sites, from one-third acre to more than two acres, and 47 luxury cabins. On-site amenities will include a golf clubhouse and spa, a Lake Club, and “Camp Wilderness,” featuring swimming, tennis and other recreational activities.Sales centers are now open in Whitefish and Calgary, Alberta.Features editor Lynnette Hintze may be reached at 758-4421 or by e-mail at lhintze@dailyinterlake.com

Montana’s Slow Burning FireGolf comes of age in Big Sky country.By Bill HuffmanWHITEFISH, Montana – Man, Montana is a beautiful place. No wonder it’s the new frontier – perhaps the last frontier – for eye-popping private golf in America.Even though he never played the game, John Steinbeck understood the rugged beauty of “Big Sky Country.’’ In 1960, shortly before his 60th birthday, the late author set out to rediscover America with his dog, Charley. Steinbeck’s 10,000-mile journey began in Maine, rambled through the heartland of the Midwest and the Great Northwest, swept along the California coast and through the deep South. The trek ended three and a half months later in his home state of New York. Not surprisingly, Steinbeck, a never-ending wanderer, was overwhelmed by the magnificence of Montana. He loved its wide-open spaces, glacier-inspired streams, rivers and lakes, and the purple mountain majesty of the Rockies. But it was the people of “the last best place on the planet’’ who really captured Steinbeck’s fancy. Or as he wrote of his encounters in Montana: “I had time to undertake the passing art of neighborliness.’’What’s amazing about Steinbeck’s last full-length work – “Travels With Charley’’ – is that the America he discovered in the fall and winter of 1960 was pretty much the same country that exists almost 50 years later. That is especially true when it comes to the western third of Montana, or everything to the left of the Continental Divide.Montana certainly is not crowded. Even though it’s the fourth-largest state size-wise, (147,138 square miles, 559 miles wide), it averages a mere 6.2 persons per square mile, with a population that has yet to reach 1 million. It is the road less traveled, without question the state’s biggest allure. For years, visitors slowly came in search of teaming trout streams and terrific ski slopes, and fell in love with the serene scene they came to know. Today, golf is the calling card at such pristine properties as Iron Horse Golf Club in Whitefish, the Club at Spanish Peaks near Bozeman, and the brand-spanking new Wilderness Club in Eureka, which is nestled just five miles south of the Canadian border. It is a natural evolution, as the Glacier Golf Trail always has been quietly fabulous, with such low-key public courses as Eagle Bend in Bigfork, Big Mountain in Kalispell, Polson Country Club and the highly-regarded Whitefish Lake Golf Club . That Glacier National Park also boasts two laidback layouts – East Glacier Golf Club and Glacier View Golf Club – also fed the slow-burning fire.Jeff Ulvedal, a golf pro from Phoenix whose roots go deep into Montana, knows why his extended family returns each summer for a reunion in Whitefish. “The golf is great, the weather is wonderful, and the people are even better,’’ he says. “It’s kind of like your favorite fishing hole, in that you know how good it is; you just hope nobody else finds out.’’Ulvedal would understand better than most. His grandfather, the late Rodger Borgeson, was the golf pro at East Glacier dating back to the early 1930s. It was Borgeson who had the honor of teaching the game to Chief Two Guns White Calf, the legendary leader of the Blackfeet whose face was coined forever on the Buffalo nickel.Today, the Glacier Golf Trail is certainly at the fore, with such legendary architects as Tom Fazio (Iron Horse), Tom Weiskopf (Spanish Peaks) and Nick Faldo (Wilderness Club) carving their way through virgin terrain. That their works are lined along the same route once taken millions of years ago by the great glaciers of the Ice Age seems to fit the region like a “tee.’’
IRON HORSE GOLF CLUBWhitefish, MontanaJust like the Native American-dubbed “Iron Horse,’’ the steam-powered train engine of the late 1800s that changed the way the West was won, so has Iron Horse Golf Club changed the way the game is viewed in northwest Montana. That revelation holds true even for the course’s creator, Fazio.“It may well be the last best place for mountain golf in the Rockies,’’ said the noted architect of the 7,028-yard, par-71 layout that is nestled near the throwback mountain town of Whitefish. “Views of the mountains above and waters below make stunning backdrops to be enjoyed on virtually every hole.’’What’s cool about Ironhorse besides its vast variety and signature closers – the picturesque 17th and 18th holes – is everything that goes with it. That includes being a next-door neighbor to Glacier National Park, as well as offering excellent skiing at Big Mountain, where the club occupies one of its western slopes. Need more of Mother Nature? No problem, as there’s the aqua-blue Whitefish Lake glistening below, and mighty Flathead Lake, which is slightly larger than Lake Tahoe and about 30 minutes away. Also on the list of natural wonders are the north, south and middle forks of the Flathead River, where fly-fishing flourishes. The best part of all, however, is Whitefish, a small hamlet of 5,000 residents that swells to 25,000 in the summer. You will not forget such Old West saloons as the Great Northern Bar & Grill and the Remington, and fabulous fare served up by such restaurants as Tupelo’s, Mambo’s, Wasabi and the local favorite -- Whitefish Lake Golf Club.Mike Meldman, the CEO of Scottsdale-based Discovery Land Co., which owns Iron Horse, is a part-time resident. “Whitefish is as glorious as Lake Tahoe or Aspen might have been 40 years ago,’’ he explains. The 820-acre Iron Horse community, which opened in 1999, has property that ranges from $225,000 to $3.8 million, with an equity membership priced at $125,000. All the perks – a Glacier Lodge-styled clubhouse, fitness center and spa, swimming pools, trout ponds and other outdoor pursuits – are included. That it was honored as the 14th best golf community out of “America’s Top 100’’ by one national publication is a testament to the awe-inspiring lifestyle of Iron Horse.STRATOS Insider: Dallas Cowboys quarterback Drew Bledsoe and Rocky-Rambo star Sylvester Stallone are members at Iron Horse. Former U.S. Open and PGA champion David Graham is a full-time resident.
THE CLUB AT SPANISH PEAKS Big Sky, MontanaLocated on 3,500 acres in the secluded Gallatin Valley on the edge of Yellowstone National Park, take a deep breath before entering the outdoor sports hamlet of Spanish Peaks. Everything Montana is famous for – skiing, fly-fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding and golf – is found among the homesites, townhomes and luxury cabins at stunning Spanish Peaks.“The views are so spectacular you’ll want to trade your sand wedge for a camera,’’ Weiskopf said of his latest upscale masterpiece. “It’s very rare to find land that is as well-suited for golf as the land at Spanish Peaks.’’Weiskopf said he went to great lengths to design “a progressive course that works in harmony with the natural landscape and bold views that surround it.’’ That the course is framed against three mountain ranges and runs through one of the most fertile valleys in the West also adds to the flair. That Weiskopf moved his residence to Bozeman also speaks volumes.Launched in early 2004, Spanish Peaks offers real-estate opportunities ranging from homesites starting at $700,000 to luxury cabins that begin at $1.3 million. Chief among the offerings are 123 homesites ranging from two to six acres. Many of the properties have ski-in and ski-out access. The No. 1 amenity is Weiskopf’s wonderland, which includes a canvas of blue spruce, quaking aspen, lodge pole pines, native wetlands and ponds, as well as a wide array of “wild,’’ as in wildlife and wildflowers. And, yes, America’s revered bald eagles still are listed among Spanish Peaks’ main residents. The 7,100-yard course opened with the first nine holes this summer, and will be the full 18 by the summer of 2007. With variety, views and vintage work by Weiskopf, it’s “a gimme’’ that Spanish Peaks will soon reap national acclaim. Memberships are priced at $85,000 for golf and $45,000 for everything but golf, and both are fully refundable. It seems a modest price for fulfilling your wildest dreams in this land that once was hailed by the explorers Lewis & Clark. That nearby Lone Mountain Ski Resort gets 400 inches of snowfall annually makes for a year-round experience.Certainly the 32,000-square-foot clubhouse/lodge, a rustic yet refined log structure that is a reminiscent of “Old Montana,” serves well both golfers and skiers. It’s all part of the grand plan by the Pittsburgh-based Dolan family, which owns the Club at Spanish Peaks.STRATOS Insider: The Oscar-winning movie “A River Runs Through It’’ was filmed along the blue-ribbon waters of the Gallatin River. In fact, the southwest section of the Gallatin is said to hold more than 4,000 cutthroat, brown and rainbow trout per mile.
THE WILDERNESS CLUBEureka, MontanaWhen it comes to a natural retreat that is like no other in the United States, those associated with The Wilderness Club near the Canadian border port of Roosville ask a two-part question: One, do you have the room to wander with loved ones and share in the experience of the great outdoors? Two, does it lead you toward all of the adventures you were always meant to have?Welcome to the Nick Faldo-inspired Wilderness Club. Built around the name-sake lake, with 90-mile-long Lake Koocanusa just a long par-5 away, there is much to savor about this 545-acre park.Faldo, for one, said he is “loving every minute of it’’ since he discovered the property a year ago. “I was amazed at how you could almost see how the course would lay out. It was all there in front of you,’’ said the winner of six major championships (three Masters and three British Opens). “The views of the mountains, water and forests from almost every hole will make this a spectacular golf setting.’’According to the NorCal Group, which has owned and managed many commercial, industrial and resort properties throughout the United States and Canada, the golf will be a pure country-club experience with an outdoor pursuits department that is second to none.“It’s the type of place I’d like to bring my family to,’’ says Faldo in what has to be the ultimate tribute to the club’s many activities, which include fly-fishing, skiing, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, hiking and biking, boating, snowmobiling and hunting, to name a few. That Wilderness Club, which opened this spring, also includes fitness and spa facilities, as well as swimming pools and hot tubs. Adds Faldo: “For me, it’s got it all, and I am simply humbled by the opportunity to create a golf course from such a pristine palette of natural amenities.’’.Ground for what Faldo calls Mother Nature’s “resort course’’ was broke this summer, with the 18-hole private course set to make its debut in the summer of 2008. The last three holes – Nos. 16, 17 and 18 – finish along lake’s shores, as does the ninth hole. What’s especially attractive about the Wilderness Club is that its membership is included with ownership of property, with homesites starting at $250,000, and luxury cabins beginning at $700,000. How hot is the Wilderness? It’s first 77 homesites were reserved in less than three months.STRATOS Insider: Not only has Faldo claimed over 50 international golf titles worldwide and designed six courses from England to China, he also lists “fishing’’ as a passion. “There is nothing better than standing in a river and knowing the trout are rising,’’ he says. “That’s a real buzz, especially around here.’’

More on the Norcal Group Later

Crystal L.
